The 13 Maple Group colleges, once again, had outstanding A level results in 2016.

Between them, the colleges had 12,189 students, sitting 36,447 subjects at A level, with a remarkable 36,109 of those subjects passed. What is more 22,892 of those passes were at grades A*, A or B, so 62.8% of the results were at the top levels, as required by the most selective universities.

Maple Group chair, Simon Jarvis, said, “It is humbling to think how many young people are now able to go on to fulfil their ambitions because of the skill and hard work of our teachers. Our colleges are not selective grammar schools, nor fee-paying. We provide education for all, at the highest level of quality. For so many to achieve so well is a matter of great pride for all involved.”

For comparison, the provisional figures across all of England show a pass rate of 98.1%, with only 52.8% at grades A* to B. There were 769,340 entries nationally, so the Maple Group students’ entries represent nearly 5% of the total.
